I couldn't find a leather chest rig (or any leather holster for that matter) for a braked desert eagle...and just bought a ruger super alaskan so I figure it's as best time as any to try learning to make a chest holster rig. Still need to do the belt / shoulder strap, and backside attachments. I also need to figure out how to attach the magazine (thinking leather straps with snaps) and also work on my stitching a little more. I may try and make it modular for use as a thigh rig.

That came out really nice. I was thinking of doing something similar for my 44mag.

That is beautiful work. I like the chest rig. Easy carry in the wild.

I'd be interested in the backside photo to see your strap attachment when you get it done. I'm contemplating a similar rig for my Redhawk.

I've decided to "redo" everything... I need to cut slots down the spine and attach straps for mounting a red dot but can't build up the courage to cut up the current holster. It also gives me time to think about how I would do things different. I've attached two straps to attach the magazine. Each strap is held in by two chicago screws in a 4-hole "teklock" pattern.. which gives access to the rear to screw things down and since it's removable.. I can rig up a way to use it as a leg holster or even make a paddle for it.

I will try and get pics of the backside soon... here is a pic of the frontside with the straps attached. Since the screws are removable.. If I decide to swap out to a mag pouch instead of straps.. I can still do it.

A carry my Contenders with a sling. One advantage is if nature calls, it's fast to remove. Instead of the whole holster thing.
It looks like you have some leather skills, you could make a real nice/fancy sling with some tooling on it for that DE.

Well done. I like the color alot. I've been thinking of something similar for my gp100. I'd sure like to see how you do your straps.

I finished up the strapping this past weekend. I have a couple of things I had to change out (didn't factor in our top heavy the desert eagle was and had to move the attachments higher) and still need to make a leather shoulder pad but it's mostly done. I will try and take some pics tonight of the strapping and attachments.

Here it is.. I didn't factor in how top heavy the desert eagle is and it was leaning off my body too much so I moved the strapping higher. Some might find it odd that I put the belt buckle on the back but figured if I fit it once..it doesn't need to be messed with and I'd rather keep it clear up front. I just put the rig over my shoulder and tighten the side buckle across the chest. It was a little difficult to take good pictures of how it all goes together (same issue I had looking at other holsters to get an idea so I just rolled with what I thought might work) The belt in the back swivels on a chicago screw so it can be put at any angle across either shoulder. The pivot point can also be moved around the back depending on how it's worn.

I'd model it but with all the nefarious govt spooks everywhere... I prefer not to expose myself more then I have to. hehe

You did well for certain. That is a heavy gun to make a nice riding rig for. Keeping it silent is the next test. I like it.
