Those are just a few of the threads that come up with the search function. It is often brought up, some results are mentioned, then it goes away for a while.
It seems that the process just isn't very home friendly.

Yes read the threads above.
The home electroplating coats are nothing like the thickness you would need. Better to spend your time and $$ on liquid or powder coatings. Those are proven and definitely work!

I tried it myself a few years ago when I was searching for an alternative.
Its in post #9 the first post is my 1st try with powder coating.
