Well since I'm a budding Youtube film maker, LOL, here is a slow mo view of what happens to a water target.

Very cool!
I wonder if you could manipulate your buffer somehow to get proper function? (I have very little experience with AR's)

Thanks Goodsteel, I was using data out of the Lyman cast load book for IMR 4198. 16.0 grains does eject and feed but accuracy isn't too great. It is getting close to 1'' groups at 14.7 grains and is ejecting okay though.

The slow motion part isn't too bad to do using Youtubes editing software.

Yeah, I suppose the tricks would be to allow more gas to go in the gas tube, reduce weight of the bolt or buffer or a different return spring. I think people are using 12 twist barrels and bigger charges of powder too. This is 1-9 one twist.

Cool bit of luck catching bullet impact in the camera frame.
14.5 grains of 4198 just does cycle my AR’s. 20” barrels. Never checked the AR but my 26 inch bolt gun runs them, 60 grain #225646, at 2,123 fps. With a carbine length gas system it should cycle. If it’s a new rifle you may just need to run a few hundred rounds through it for break in. Cold weather doesn’t help as any EP grease will thicken.

Wolff makes a reduced rate recoil spring too. Wanna buy one, have spring, no AR anymore?

There we can see how the powder exhaust ignites in air causing the bright muzzle flash. That shows that at least some powders are oxygen deficient (possibly to keep flame temperatures down and to slow the burn rate and control the pressure curve).

It took a couple minutes to walk back to the rifle. It was about 60 yards away. It was a center hit on the flat side of the jug. I just guestimated the velocity.

After the intro, fast forward to 2:16 in the video.
