This isn't about casting; more just questions about a particular shotgun.
Ithaca Hammerless double, dates to 1906. What I find is the name "Lewis" attached to any reference to Ithacas made from 1904 to 1906 or there a bouts. Other time periods have other mens names attached. What's the significance of the names? Design, Management? It there an online site that will explain what I'm looking for?

This old gun is mechanically perfect, shows use and the butt stock has been repaired. It is certified for smokeless and very very clean, no rust anywhere. Just looking for info; thanks

I would check www.shotgunworld.com (http://www.shotgunworld.com). Walt Snyder (who wrote "the" books on Ithaca shotguns and the Ithaca m37) sponsors the Ithaca subforum, I think. His book "The Ithaca Gun Company: From The Beginning" would tell you what you want to know but I tried Amazon its out of print and expensive.

I don't know the dates, and this is coming from a foggy old memory- I have a "Flues" double from the teens (I think) he was the designer, and I've a "Knick" from the 20's or so, short for Knickerbocker the designer of the updated Flues. Perhaps a "Lewis" predates Flues & Knicks.

Lewis was a employee of Ithaca gun company that designed that model. ( made improvements to the Crass model). This was followed by the Manier, then the Flues and finally the NID (new Ithaca double) in 1926.

It is serialed in with the Lewis & NIG series. Have no idea about any of that but the Lewis. Thanks to all. I'll check the shotgun site.

With those dates I would say it is a Crass model. Differences are subtle.

Easy to id differences, Crass were 5 screw frames, while Lewis had 4 per side.

came across this web page- you'll have to scroll down for Ithaca- but the info you need is here. If you have the time, they have some work of art shotguns at this company....
