.41 Mag Swaged from 9 mm?

Is this possible, and if so how would you go about it. I didn't see anything about this in a quick search.

The 41 cal from 9mm is a very good bullet. Customer of mine used it to take a few whitetails out in the Midwest. Here is a few good threads on the subject.

Awesome. Thank you for your help with this. Thanks for not being that jerk on a forum that just points me to the search function. I don't know why a google search wouldn't bring that up. Perhaps I didn't try hard enough. I'll read through all this then ask some questions.

No problem at all. No "jerks" here. Hope you get a chance to make some awesome 41 cal bullets. The thick brass base and tapered walls of the 9mm really make for an excellent bullet and the 41 mag is the ideal cartridge (well maybe 2nd to a 40-308) to take advantage of these tough bullets.

OOOOOOHHHHHHH, another hook, line and sinker. If it wasn't so much fun, I'd be going broke with another hobby. BT can set you up with what you need, but beware.................it's addicting. You can actually make better bullets than can be bought. Enjoy.

A few reputable swage die makers are : Richard Corbin (RCE, LLC), Dave Corbin (Corbin), Larry Blackmon, CH4D, and Brian Thurner (BT Sniper)

Swage dies come in a few different configurations depending on what type of press you plan on using. Reloading presses can be used for swaging or a specialized swage press can be used, which basically has more UMPH and is designed for the high pressures involved in swaging. For smaller bullets, a reloading press is fine. If you ever get into the realm of 45-50 cal, a swage press will definitely make life a bit easier. I have swaged 45 and 50 cal on my RCBS RC with an extended handle, but I plan on ordering a dedicated swage press (I get bad tendonitis in my elbow).

Best bet is to get on YouTube and familiarize yourself with the different option.

Swaging is not cheap, but fun as he**. It is addictive...you HAVE been warned!

Everything ICH said. The way I explain it is that a swaging press is like a lower gear in the transmission or a numerically higher rear axle ratio. It makes it easier to generate lots more force, with the downside of having to move the handle through a longer arc.

If you're going to do 223, knock yourself out with pretty much any reloading press, except for maybe the Lee cast aluminum C-press. I've broken one after a marathon brass sizing session, hehehe...

It sure is addictive! I can think of a lot of goofy things to spend money on. This is equipment that will carry you through an ammo shortage..
