Might want to research into the "Freechex III" tool.

Yes, in fact with my Freechex clone i have been able to make >3000 checks in the last week. Just ripped some off when ever I had an extra 5-10 minutes of spare time.

Not since I made 7000 6mm/243 checks a week ago. Haven't used anything but the Freechex III check maker tools. I have the 22 cal, 6mm, 35 cal, 44 and the 45 cal Freechex III tools. I will never buy another gas check again.

The secret is the metal used... correct? - tj

Most folks just use aluminum flashing. Superb accuracy can be had from aluminum checks, especially if you make sure the punch matches the diameter of your GC shank exactly. I used to make custom checkmakers for members here. I would ask for samples of their most accurate bullets, and I would simply make a tool that creates a check to match that bullet's shank. The result was excellent accuracy.

If you know somebody with a lathe its really easy to make your own checkmaker. For home production it isn't necessary to use fancy hardened steels, mild steel is sufficient. Making your own checkmaker allows you to adjust check dimensions to exactly what you need.

Have check makers for 30 and 35, but only as back up just in case the supply of commercial dries up. Right now, my time is worth more than the time making checks, but to each his own. Have no problem with Alum cks, they shoot well and accurate.

I've thought about this same thing; buying check makers and material to learn to make them and make as needed, but have had good luck with Gator checks in several calibers and recently was sent a sample of 35 cal. checks from Sage Outdoors & they fit my NOE 360 cast boolits perfectly, I will be buying more from them to try in other calibers.
