Looking for some feedback on a good heavy cast boolit for a 300 win mag with 1:9 twist barrel. Not looking to push it fast. Was thinking about the NOE 247 grain. Thoughts?

Are you talking about the 300 Blackout mould? It may have too long of a nose for 300 Win Mag. Its designed not to encroach into the powder space of a shortnecked case. This makes the bore riding nose extra long. It may not fit in your magazine, but you might be able to single load it.

Not sure of your definition of heavy. I use a 311284 mold. It is a 210 gr bore rider that works well in my 300 WM at about 2100 fps.

210 was the light end of what I was thinking.

I load the accurate molds version of this boolits in my savage edge 30-06 with no issue. Fits the mag perfectly and shoots very well at 1,950fps.

It is not as heavy as what some of you are using, I am using a 180gr. bore rider from Accurate for .308Win. 30-06 and .300 Win.Mag.
I think I will have to push it faster than 2000FPS to get it to preform its best, it is taking a liking to speed

I am putting together a 300 Win Mag right now and do intend to use it for cast boolits.
The heaviest mold I have now is the NOE 198 GC/PB
I have the NOE 316299 that I could size down, but I too would like to see what the rifle will do with a 230+ boolit.
What powder were you going to use ?

I have a plain base mold very similar to the NOE 247 I shoot in a 9.5 twist rifle. It is a tough one to cast, lube, and load. They bend pretty easy if you are not careful, and the PB complicates driving it fast enough to stabilize. The NOE 311331 is a favorite of mine and is pretty heavy at 218gr if the nose will fit your max length.

@ Silverjay
I am about two weeks out from getting the rifle done.
It is a Savage 110 long action mounted on a Savage Model 12 short action single shot stock with the stock releived for the 3 round blind magazine.
I will keep you posted how it does with the molds that I have now, and with your feedback, I may buy a different mold soon.

I looked thru all of my manuals tonight, and the heaviest boolits listed in cast for the 300 Win Mag are the 187 and 190.
I can use that data for starting loads for what I have molds for right now, but I guess I will just have to wing it if I get a heavier mold.
I did find data for the 210 gr for the 300 Weatherby and 300 H&H Mags

I sent NOE an email, will see what he says. I was planning to use Quickload as part of the development.

Has anyone looked at the Mihec group buy for the 300 AAC for use in a 300?

Just my opinion, I think putting a 1-9 twist barrel on there is going to greatly hinder your speed which is going to leave you with a great deal of unused case capacity. I shoot a lot of 300 WinMag and it's not a pretty picture with cast. My rifle has a 1-10 twist barrel on it and just two weeks ago I tried to shoot some cast bullets out of it at 2300 FPS. It was a total bust. I've got to stay in the 1950 range with that twist.
These stickies explain fully what I am talking about:
