New here, been lurking for a while. Still not sure of the rules, hopefully I'm not breaking any of them now, but I have questions. Does anyone know if there are commercially made bullet traps for center fire lead bullet loads? If not, does anyone have blueprints to build one? Do you think a copy of a .22 bullet trap would work if the steel was heavy enough? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome aboard. You're going to love this place.
I have a bullet trap that the sticker says is capable of handling .38 Sp loads. It's older, so I have no idea if they are still made.
I'd be willing to sell mine, but shipping would not be cheap. Where are you located?

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you. I'm in central PA. What are the dimensions of the trap? Could you send pics? I'm really interested in something that can handle up to .44 mag. Does it look as if your trap could be reinforced for this use? What is your price? Your right, shipping costs could be prohibitive. Thanks, appreciate your reply.

This thread talked a good bit about construction of such a beast.

I almost shot thru my Outers trap with my Ruger conversion shooting .17 PMC fmj rimfire. My problem was I was getting too good of a group, 9 shots through the same hole. Needless to say I only shoot .22 rimfire and pellets at it now.

The hotter .22LR rounds damage them too. A steady diet of Stingers or Spitfires will bend the back plate of those little .22 traps.
