Butches Bore Shine and a nylon brush. I use this in my inlines after using sabots.

Google "Ed's Red" basically a mixture of acetone, deodorized kerosene, mineral spirits, and ATF. Plastic fouling simply wipes away.

The usual hot soapy water then, 409 or greased lightning, followed by soapy water to get the 409 completely out. Then Windex to complete. Usually a patch of Ballistoil to preserve until the next range session. Numerous steps, but, I'm fastidious.

Are you shooting BP or a sub? Which sub? It is a muzzle loader or a breech loader? Which powder makes a difference. BTW you can make up about a gallon of Ed's Red for about 10 bucks.

Ed's Red fan here and I wish I could make it for ten bucks. I admit though never putting in my smoke poles but it goes down everything else, works super on shotgun bore clean up of wad skid marks. "Seasoned" bore"? The boiling soap water followed by straight boiling water then TC lube when still too hot to touch has never failed me. If I were to use a petroleum based I would follow with a boiling soap water to remove post plastic removal or just try straight acetone on patch.
