I have the 7.62 39 Carbine and would like a 223 to keep it company. I am over fast twist barrels and am looking for a 1 in 10 (or 12)".

I can't seem to find info on twist rates and none are in stock around the traps. I don't want to pre order an unknown quantity.

Try this Four Fingers, Shows a 1 in 9 twist under specs.

Thanks for that. The CZ USA website does not seem to be available from Australia. Every device I have tried refused access. It seems everyone has a hard on for fast twist barrels. I was hoping for a more cast friendly barrel. Iay as well stick with my Ruger American Compact 223 with it's 1 in 8" twist. It is burning up ammo so maybe a new tube down the track is in order.

I have a CZ 527 in .223 that I bought in 2002. I don't recall exactly the twist rate on it though 1:12 comes to mind. It is deadly with 52 and 55 grain bullets but will not stabilize a 60 grain bullet. I have not tried cast in the gun.

I have found 55Gn bullets adequate for most small medium game here up to goats and roos. I also feel that the slower twist might be easier on cast boolits. I will have to get on the phone and see if I can find one at a shop and go visit with a cleaning rod and a patch. Thanks for the info.

When I bought mine in 2013 they were still one in twelve twists . The talk was they were going to the faster twist near in the future . I think the middle of 2014 they did the deed ( shameful ) , after all who wants to shoot lead anymore right ?

I just went with 222 Rem with a 1:14 twist barrel. Have been totally delighted with results.

Even with full powered jacketed loads. It's much more pleasant to shoot than 223. I don't consider 223 harsh. Just that the triple deuce is sweet. 14 grains of powder yields 2,400 fps with a cast 60 grain bullet. Same powder charge and bullet in 223 yields 200 fps slower.

I will check and see if the 222 is available. That would be the bee's knees for cast.

I just ordered a 527 LUX today in 222. There is just something sexy about the 222 and I have always had good luck with CZ rifles.

Yep they are nice.

I just ordered an eight pound jug of AA LT-32 to feed mine. http://blog.westernpowders.com/newest-reloading-data/ (http://blog.westernpowders.com/newest-reloading-data/)

Never tried the new powder so hope it works. Will be trying it in my jacketed 50 and 53 grain loads in 223 also. Have all 800 of my 222 cases loaded. Thanks to the cold weather I've stayed in and loaded ammo.

I just spotted a 223 Ruger No3 with No1 forend and a new buttstock. Some blueing wear, but good barrel apparently. Very tempting as I have four No1s.
