I have a Remington classic in 7x57 and I was wondering if anyone has ever loaded the lee mold 130gr bullets for this round and what powder they used as I have lots of imr 3031,unique,reddot and h380 and was wondering if anyone of these powders would work for this particular round Thanks for any help you can give me

Welcome shooter I don't load the lee soup can for the 7x57 I am screwing around with the lyman 287346 for an old mil surp. that being said you can probably use data for the 287346 it's about 135g. I know 3031 will work for that soup can. I hear unique will work also if I were you and wanted info on unique. use the search function on the top of the page just below your login name in the right hand corner. then if all else fails ask BEN about this round he has done a lot with it. also if you don't already have it get a copy of the lyman cast bullet hand book it will guide you down the good road.

I use the Lee 285-130R in an old Spanish Mauser carbine with 10 grains of Green Dot. Lubed and loaded as cast with a gas check. It shoots very well at least with what these old eyes can see.

3031 will indeed work with that bullet , at least it does in my Brazilian but the 145 grain RCBS sil. works better at longer ranges. I am working up loads now for the NOE 15 gr group buy. I have also used 4198.

Thank You all for your quick answers and they were really helpful. I will work up a few loads of each today and see how they work out. May all your shots be straight and true

Welcome to the forum!! You're playing with my favorite caliber! If Midsouth has any left, go get the 6-cav (you WILL shoot a lot of them!) LEE 130 gr. FP Soupcan mold designed here and load it on either 18.0 grs. IMR4227 or 24.0 grs. IMR4198 to start and work up from there. 5 - 10 grs. Red dot works well too. The Lyman and RCBS molds are fine too, just expensive! +1 to what 30carbine posted: GET the Lyman Cast bullet Handbook.

I have a Ruger 7 X 57 mm.
It is a nail driver with the Lee, 132 gr. ( Soup Can ).
Sized .2863 ", gas checks are my own .014" Amerimax aluminum checks, loaded with 10.0 grs. of Alliant Unique.

A lot of people say there is something magical about 10.0 grs. of Unique. Maybe they are right ...... ? ?

I know the soup can does quite well in the 7-08 round also.
I had a chance to shoot a few through Dan Walkers rifle a while back and even with his loafing along speeds the rifle was super accurate out to 200 yds with this boolit.
I have the two rcbs molds mentioned above and they do quite well in my x57 rifles but I have put some serious thought into the LEE mold, and if I decided to shoot my modern 7's with cast a lot I would definitely get this mold.

I've yet to hunt with it, although I have no doubt that it will kill a deer .

Alloy is 50% WW's and 50 % range scrap.
