The problem. I shoot 40-65 in a c. sharps using 22 gr. IMR 4198 with 1/4 sheet of Charmin and a 300 gr .408 RCBS bullet. The problem is unburned powder left in the case, that just should not be happening. My primers are WLR. Any ideas?

How tight does the Charmin pack down? If it's loose, grains of powder might be getting in front of your buffer. Have you tried Dacron?

I use the IMR4198 in my 45-70's with good results. I don't use a filler. Sometimes a little crimp with the sizing die or a heavier boolit might help.

I had to dissassemble some loads, and the Charmin fell (1/4 sheet) right out, or came out easily.

Maybe I will try dacron of 1/2 sheet, or both, Thank you, Mike

I do not crimp now, but I will give it a try. Thanks, Mike

Crimping is important, I use IMR 4198 for my 45-70 Trapdoor & I use Dacron, but I use a tuft of it so the powder stays where it's supposed to.
