I had one. cast bullets with the lee mold.
never got it to shoot good. oh yeah it was a win 94 AE 20" tube.
Found out i dont like the AE winchesters. fell out of love with the rifle. I have a winchester 94 26" rifle from 1908 that i hope to get custom barreled in 7-30 waters one day. one day.

I've seen precisely one 7x30W since it came out in, what?, the mid-late 80's? I should have bought it but the price was just out of my range IIRC. \Love the idea, always thought it needed a buulet 20-25 gr heavier.

I gots a 24" Model 94 and like it much with Hornady 139 grain flat nose. It is a cast project for this spring, Lyman 287346, Saeco 140 gr fp, rcbs 168 gr fp and the two saeco two diameter gas checks are the molds I have. This rifle will put three Hornady's under an inch at one hundred yards so maybe I can get it to like some cast boolets.
It is a very nice carrying rifle, although it gets used more for coyotes than anything else. Just too many gizzies around to pack something that small.

It is on my to do list. I snatched up a 24" barreled 94 in fine shape last year when it showed up at a local gun shop and have the Saeco 140 grain mould for starters. I also have a nice 11" Virgin Valley custom Contender barrel in 7-30 and really like shooting it too. There is some load data on the for the 7-30 on TCBunch 7-30 Waters Reloading page (http://tcbunch.com/home/index.php5?title=7-30_Waters_Reloading)

I've had a Marlin 36G "Glenfield" laying on the shelf for about a year now as a donor for a 7-30 Waters rebarrel job . But just haven't gotten around to it yet !

I have laid in about a 1000 of the old Hornady 139 FP's , about 1200 of the old Nosler 120 FP's , another 1000 of the Sierra 120 FP's and a few hundred of the Speer 130 FP's .

As far as moulds are concerned I've had the Saeco 7mm FN GC mould for awhile and got in on one of the 7mm Soup Can moulds as well .

So I am set for moulds and components [smilie=1:

I now have a Model 94 20 inch 7-30 Waters, and have done some load development using the 7mm Soup Can and the Lee 7mm roundnose, now discontinued. I am trying, probably in vain, to get the bullet to group (Soupcan) at around 2200 fps in the interest of trying to duplicate the 25-35 with cast bullets.

The 1-9 twist makes this high speed doubtful with AC wheelweight bullets. Three inch groups at fifty yards are typical, which isn't what I've been looking for. I may have to accept lower velocities and stick to the 35 for cast lead deer loads.

I think they may very well be bringing that to collectors . I seem to remmember one selling on gunbroker right after Winchester closed the doors for about $1200.

I however would prefer one on a Marlin action . Very much along the lines of the "old" 336A . 22" or 24" barrel with half mag and no barrel bands !

Actually if truth be known I would like a pair of them in that configuration but one at 22" and the other at 24" . And then I would shoot jacketed in the 22" one and cast in the longer barreled one [smilie=1:

I really liked the idea of the 7-30 Waters when it came out but have never been a 94 fan. I had a Savage 99 re-barreled with a Douglas Premium chambered for 7-30. Have always used the Speer 145 gr Hot-Cor spitzer with a max listed load of WW-748. With a 6x42 Heavy Duplex Leupold scope it hasn't moved zero in over 12 years; this is the gun I grab when something really, truly needs killing and I don't know how far away it might be.

Never shot cast in it, the only thing wrong with this rifle is it works so very well it's hard to convince Mama I "need" another gun.....

I expect once I get around to having the first one built I will shoot jacketed in it since I have somewhere around 4000 variouse jacketed bullets for it .

But since I also have a couple good 7mm FN moulds I might just have to have a pair of rifles built before all is said and done !

However I need to quit procrastinating over the rebarrel job and "just do it" with the first one !
