I need a nipple wrench and with time being long and cash short, I figuired I would make one.
What do you guys do? My rifle wrench is too wide, and will not fit.
Is anyone using a socket filed to match?

Yes, here is one I made a while back. I patterned it off an old "turnscrew" I have. I epoxied (and pinned under the ferrule) the cut-off end of a socket extension in the handle so the nipple wrench can be removed from the wood handle and put on a ratchet handle if needed. I sanded the chrome off the socket and then suspended it in a bottle of vinegar.

I am guessing 1/4" drive socket. What size socket?
That looks good for sure. I like.

Is anyone using a socket filed to match? That is what I use. Just take a 1/4" drive socket that fits the nipples/cones and then file a slot on both sides. I will have to dig mine out to see what size socket I used.

Using a modified socket brings out the most contrary nipple/cone with ease. I always put a little anti seize or lube on the threads to help out.

Yes, 1/4" drive, 6 point deep socket. I think I used a 4mm socket
