I've been making .308" bullets for awhile now using 5.7X28 brass with great results. Thanks to all for the education I've received on this site. I'd like to now make .311" bullets and am in the process of making the dies. Question I have is can I take the .308" bullets and bump them up to .311" in these dies and if so, is the finished product inferior to making .311" bullets from scratch?

Well, the commercial jackets I use from RCECO are typically 0.005" below finished diameter and bump up fine. I am 100% sure you'd be fine. A sheet of paper is 0.002". I wouldn't want to bump up 30cal to say 8mm, because there's a very likely chance of being off-center.

I made a two piece die to bump 220 Gn RN 308" (Jword) bullets up to 316" it is used in my heavy duty bench vice .Once I have bumped them up I then size them back to 314" for my 303 Lee Enfield .
The top screws off so that I can knock the bullet through .Its slow work , but with a big supply of 22gn Rn 308 bullets and no rifle in that calibre,
makes sense ,to me anyway.
