No markings other than E I G *. It is a 22 cal short or long or long rifle I have no idea. Fairly nice wood and heavy octagon barrelhttp://s46.photobucket.com/user/swillsmore/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150128_135606716_zpsp6zukrpe.jpg.html?filter s[user]=141188004&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0hope these come out I've never been able to add a photo before.

Looks like a European parlor rifle.

Looks like a Flobert. If the hammer is the breech block, it's the first generation, the weakest. That being said, I shoot CB longs and shorts out of mine. If I get reeel close, I can kill a squirrel. Great for sparrows and starlings.

Thanks every one who's chimed in so.far, not often I find one that has me totally stumped! Yes the hammer is in the breech, and a manhole cover for lack of a better term I'll try get some better pics of the action, it did work and after the first dry fire the hammer won't stay back my guess isit needs some spring work.

I agree with Janoosh. It is a Flobert. Mine has a smooth bore. Pretty accurate out to about 25 feet.

Any idea of value? I'd say its 70-75 % condition

The Flobert pictured is second generation, sort of a mini rolling block. Better than first gen (stronger), but not THAT strong, still good for CB long/short. Third gen is mini trapdoor, my favorite.!!
Insides are usually dirty, and dirty, and soft metal, but fun to work on.
I have not purchased a Flobert in many years, but never paid more than $100 for one. Mistake I made is I let one go in 32 rimfire, nickle plated action, set trigger. I thought $150 was too much and I was full of myself, so.....I missed it.

If you have the chance, and just for a goof, ....bench it, double bag it, and shoot it with CB longs at 100 yds. It is a hoot.!!!

As soon as I determine that its mechanicly sound I plan to use it for a garden gun. Looks really cool.

.

FWIW, AFAIK those Floberts were mostly chambered for an obsolete 6mm RF cartridge (yes, a .22 will chamber), with some for the (early/weak) .22 Short of the day, and should never be fired with modern LR ammo.

Thank you for that, I'd read it once I had a name, if it is a .22 I'd only plan on using cb shorts in it.
