I found this in my barn, came with the property and I had forgotten about it, but I have started casting much more in the last year and am wondering what this is, lead, bearing babbit, what's the best way to figure it out?

I found that, and other things. Like a battery recycling company.

My first guess would be ships ballast. What size is it? Weight? I'm looking to determine the density. It could be a sacrificial zinc anode too.

Schuylkill is the name of a river and county in Pennsylvania. There are hundreds upon hundreds of businesses with the name of Schuylkill in they're title.

Also battery recyclers in Fl and Mo. He needs to have it analyzed.

Take it to a scrap yard and have it an analysis done on it. It might cost a few bucks. Call around first.

I have asked all five of my close local scrap yards about an xrf and none have them. I wish I had access to one it would be nice to really know what something is.

I have two of the ingots you posted about. They weigh about 50 lbs and although it's an unscientific test scratch easily with the markI fingernail. So I would hazard a guess that it is soft lead. No other markings other than your ingot. Did cut easily with my el cheapo band saw though. Frank

Yes you can find them throughout Pennsylvania and they're always soft lead. It would be odd for a battery recycler to put lead back into a publicly accessible stream and not convey it to another manufacturer. I don't know if the acid can be removed completely but that is one thing to consider with battery recyclers. I'd be willing to bet that battery lead stays in battery production.

Soft lead ingot is SWAG. Looks like a typical 50#. If fingernail scratch soft that would confirm. 10
