Are there dangers in shooting bullets that are under "normal" OAL?

I've loaded 198gr .323 gc for the .32 Special. (The bullets are likely more suited to a .32-40 cartridge--shorter nose than most .32WS slugs.) The OAL of these cartridges is 2.384 which seems well under the 2.565 shown in my manuals. Problems? Dangers?

A load of 28.8 gr H4895 is accurate out of our Winchesters.

-.018 OAL difference is not an issue, +.018 might be, but each rifle/bullet combination is a little different. As long as your accuracy isn't suffering, you should be good to go.

There is a Minimum & a Maximum measured OAL for the 32 Special. So long as you don't exceed either measurement you should be good to go with the powder charge you have already pre-measured and fired prior to this thread..

It is easy to find maximum lengths for cartridges. Where does one find the minimums?

That info (Min/Max) is contained Lee Pacesetter die sets (Instruction Sheet.) And you can find other caliber Min /Max info on Castpix under [Powder Manuals] i.e. Accurate Powder Co. then Select the very (first) listing and mouse tap on.
