OK I have had at least 2 1911's for 30 years
I now have a few more than that

But I have never done more than working on the slide and it's parts

I now have a project 1911 that I would like to do all myself other than the finish

So what is a good book to get ?
I know this project will take me some time with my migraines [smilie=b:
But I figure , I can learn how to do it right

The U.S. M1911/M1911A1 Pistols & Commercial M1911 type Pistols - A Shop Manual by Jerry Kuhnhausen.

I second the Kuhnhausen books. He has two of them for the 1911, both are worth getting. They can be a little hard to follow just because there is so much information, but well worth reading.

As above and Bill Wilson's stuff.

Kuhnhausen manuals are awesome. I have the one for the 1911 and really like it.
