A friend inherited an old British rifle in caliber of 577 nitro express 3".

Ammunition is spendy and he wants to hand load for it, has acquired brass and some $$ Barnes bullets. Bought some used dies at a gun show.

To allow more shooting, he wants to cast for this caliber: who makes a mould of approximately 600 - 700 grain for this ?

Do not know what the barrel specs on such a cannon. So I would slug the barrel very carefully and get a mold .002 over the groove diameter. You may want to get a gas check mold as it protects the base of the bullet from the hot powder gasses. Try Accurate molds once you have the bore dimensions and i'm sure he can help you out. Frank

You may want to bore scope it also. A lot of the older double rifles show the wear from cordite and don't like cast bullets to much. Mine shoots jacketed bullets great but cast not so well.

Thanks for the ideas; will slug the bore to determine proper diameter and contact both Accurate and CBE.
