Do anyone use other than pure lead for muzzleloading.?
I will cast some Lee R.E.A.L. bullets and if I ad a little tin they would loke better.
How about 1 to 30 aloy.
Thanks

A fellow shooter I shot against always added 1-2% tin to his round ball alloy. If anyone could find fault with his shooting I would like to know how.

I've used WW's for RB's with out any trouble.....but a maxi or Real with just a little hardning will be impossible to load without a steel ramrod and a hammer.[smilie=1: NO fun

I agree, the REAL must be soft or you will have a hard time getting them down. You could add a pinch of tin to help fill out the mould but don't use much. Ron

I use WW's for my REAL boolits, they load just fine.

Well I've never been able to get wheel weights down a barrel. You must have a quite undersized bullet and engraving the top ring only.... :)

Thank for your answers.
I will stick to pure lead.
Thanks

I think the reason some rifles load REAL's without trouble and others don't is simply bore diameter, and width of lands. a couple of ten thousandths can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD trying to get them the first two inches of barrel. That’s my experience........

Use of a malarky detector often will be of noticeable assistance to determined shooters. BvT

I use a 1-16 tin/lead alloy for the TC .50 cal 350 gr MaxiBalls in my Black Mountain Magnum. I push them at 1525 fps. I use stick on WWs + a tin for REALs (250 & 320s) and RBs.

The mold and lead must be HOT to cast good R.E.A.L.s. Emery

I always add 1/2% tin when making R.E.A.L. bullets. This bit of tin acts as a surfactant with the lead to get good mould fill-out and consistant boolit weight. I usually load my REALs over a felt wad or half a powder measure of cream of wheat cereal. I get excellent accuracy and some expansion at velocities over 1100fps. Penetration is awesome! Deer size game go down as if pole-axed! Sure beats the He-- out of PRBs out to 125 yards.
