For those of you in the KC area the news of Motor Officer M Kern's passing may be familiar. For those of you that are not Officer Kern was on duty (at home) detailing his motorcycle to be one of the escort for Barak Obama at the event in Lawrence, KS.
Officer Kern began to feel ill and went into the family home where his wife found him. Unable to call 911 by telephone Officer Kern's portable police radio was used to call for help. Despite all of the responders efforts Officer Kern was pronounced dead at the local hospital. Michael was 43 years old and as fine an officer, family man and Christian as I've know for a very long while. Yes we worked together for a few years before my retirement.
The purpose of this tale? Please take a few moments to reflect and hold your loved ones closer for a few moments longer tonight. Michael's family and the Police family are in a great deal of pain and in need of prayers of peace and healing. I know I am.
