Maybe this has been beat to death but I would like to know from experienced casters what is the best single burner propane stove to use for rending WW's, blending "biscuits" with Tin, etc.

I have been using a "claw foot" Chinese stove for my early forays into this but I have over 2000 lbs of clip ons to render and I need a good one. I've put a brick and tile shims under two sides of the Chinese stove I have just in case, as the legs don't look that sturdy to hold 40 lbs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Turkey fryer or something similar. Mine is a King Kooker (Metal Fusion Inc.)

Ixquick is your friend. Just about any turkey fryer burner will work. If you have a welder and can fabricate a stand, a cheap weed burner from a farm supply can be rigged to work. Check out Cajun fish fryers.

I built my own.An angle iron frame over a home made burner. The burner is a 1/2 in pipe nipple with a tiny hole drilled in it. A 1-1/2 in pipe nipple 4" long spot welded over it, 4" from the surface of your pot. It works off of tank pressure, sounds like a F-14, and will melt 400# of lead in about 15 minutes.

A cheap harbor frieght weed burner slightly modified works great. Mine is 500,000 btus. I unscrewd the burner from the end and a 1/8" 90* elbow with a nipple to raise burner to hieght. I welded A piece of 1/4" X1" 8" long with the nipple in the center to make a foot to keep burner sitting upright. I also used 2 valves to mine an on/off and one ahead of it to regulate temps when casting or doing small batches. A stand and pot made from old propane tank and your good to go.

This motor scooter works really well for me. Small wind breaks recommend.

I just picked up a turkey fryer kit from Walmart around the holidays for $25.00/ Makes quick work of the lead. I also built a stand out of 2x4's for it. I wrapped the top in stainless steel and screwed the fryer base to it. Nice and sturdy and easier on your back.

Here's what I use. I have melted as much as 1000 lbs. of scrap lead in a day with it:

Give the aluminum pot to your wife for the kitchen and buy a Harbor Freight cast iron dutch oven:

As long as you don't bang on it or drop it, the DO will work fine. This model has a working volume of about 120 lbs of molten lead.

Here's mine in action (that's a 92 lb. ingot I am melting):
