My first muzzle brake!

Finnished my first muzzle brake last week, didn't want to post anything until results were in! Managed to get out to the range yesterday and fir a "volley" of rounds downrange. Not for accuracy , simply a function test. The brake itself is made from forged 4140 normalised steel ( heavy truck air brake "s" cam ) the shooting end of it was surprisingly good. Full power 375 Win from a 14" contender and a 230 gr NOE RCBS clone the best I can tell is only about 1-1/2" of muzzle climb and out to 100 yds , still shooting to the sights.

If I had to ,I would say it was a " loose " Interpretation of the brake found on field artillery. Two ports on either side three on top and nothing to the bottom. Thought it best that way for shooting Creedmore position at the sillywet range. The factory Muzzle tamer brake was "shot off " to my surprise, they are not threaded on. And a very poor job of silver soldering to boot! I plan on trying some different types/ styles, I am led to believe that that is what I should be doing, now that I have the lathe ad milling machine ( other than making big round things into small round things) LOL!!!

In a word. WHAT!!! LOL Always shoot my silywet guns with hearing protection. Realy does not bother me that much. Makes it much more enjoyable to shoot long strings from at the club. That is what matters!
