Does anyone know the Sn/Pb composition of "Refined Metal Solder" bar solder. It comes in stick/bar form about 3/8" thick, 1/2" wide and 12" long. It only says "REFINED METAL SOLDER" across the top.

I don't know, but what did YOUR searching reveal?

Defined here as 60 lbs. of tin added to 100 lbs. of lead https://books.google.com/books?id=7dQfAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA23-PA33&lpg=RA23-PA33&dq=Refined+metal+solder&source=bl&ots=qRPXeQWwoM&sig=lS8tSJ_P6oK5sv2JJ344jIk-ChA&hl=en&sa=X&ei=oVi7VMTZEMaiNoi3gbgJ&ved=0CE4Q6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=Refined%20metal%20solder&f=false

That would be about 63 Pb / 37 Sn this would possibly be used for plumbing solder according to Wikipedia.

RogerDat, Thanks, I couldn't find anything at all on it. I bought 4 bars of it online the other day, figuring that I could throw it in with some scrap range lead or something.

No problem I'm sort of laid up right now so I can't do much except computer stuff.

Well that adds another item we can identify.

UPDATE: I had a very generous offer by a forum member to test this metal with an XRF gun. I sent a sample and it tested out to be 60/40 lead/tin with just a trace of copper.

Many thanks to this member for his offer and contribution to positively identify this metal!
