I have been casting with a Lyman 257420 mold for my Airforce Condor air rifle. They drop at 73 gr with roofing lead. They are very accurate in my Condor at 900 fps. I want to cut 10 to 15 grains off the bullet using a new Lyman 257420 mold. I am wondering if there is a significant difference in accuracy between hollow pointing the mold vs milling the mold down to reduce the bullet length by basically cutting off the gas check portion of the bullet. Thoughts?
Thanks Ray

I cut the GC off of my 420, years ago to shoot in a slow twist barrel. My bullet went from 73 gr to 59 gr. They measure .500" long when done like that.

The barrel that I shorten mine for was a 18 twist.

If you have a 14 twist, I would suggest leaving it full length and just reaming the GC out to make it PB, unless your doing it for recoil reasons.
