I just tried Dastardly's Big Lube bullets in my 5 1/2" stainless ROA today. I lubed them with GreenSpeed, and sized them to .454" like Dick suggests. I settled on 30 grns 777 for a powder charge. They grouped GREAT, averaging about 1.5" @ 25 yds from a rest, (better than Lee's boolits), although POI was a good 3" above the RB groups, I just used a 6 O'clock hold to hit the Bullseye! The grease groove is nice and deep/wide and showed a lube star after 12 shots. I see them as an excellent choice for hunting. Try 'em, you'll like 'em!

Fatelvis,

Tried your link and got some kind of error message.

Are you talking the DDROA 210?

I plan on using the collar button mold (recent group buy) for all my black powder plinking, pistol and rifle.

For hunting, I prefer something heavier.

I should have bought an Old Army back when they were $125.00.......sigh.

Straw, His website seeems to be down right now. Yes, it is the DDROA 45-210. You use a bullet heavier than 210 grains?

I don't know if it's true, but I heard that Ruger isn't selling the ROA any more...

I couldn't get the link to work so just went to biglube.com , I have fired 255 gr. .454 boolits lubed in both grooves in my ROA. WW as cast. They dont jump if you start them straight. and no flashover. DALE

Straw, You use a bullet heavier than 210 grains?

Actually I don't own a ROA, never liked them.

I use a Dragoon and a bunch of 1860s. Also a couple of 45-70s and 45 Long Colts.

This is the collar button bullet.

Weighs a couple grains more than the round ball, about 155 grains.

For hunting, in the 45 LC, I use the 45-283 group buy bullet, or a 255 grain Keith of some sort.

I use the lightweights for plinking and small game only.
