I think I saw somewhere that handloader magazine 254 had a good article on the 358 Winchester. Would anybody have one they would be willing to scan and email? Or any other good reads on that fine caliber? Tim has my Mauser to build me a 358, and I gotta do something to keep from going nuts![smilie=b:

I would also be interested in some 358 reading material.

Lots of good threads around here on the .358 but I'm guessing that's what got this ball rolling. ;-)

Threads here on the .358 is made me decide I couldn't live without one! I bought a Ruger 77 in .358 & am planning two future projects, both rebores by JES, one is a Remington 7-08 that has never shot worth a darn no matter what I feed it so it's going to be my second .358, other is a Marlin 336 to rebore to .356 Winchester to use .308 brass, guess I'm all in for the 35's now that I'm only shooting cast, with .358 & my 45-70's I can have lots of fun!

Wow seems like this is a popular thing right now!! I figured that a 358 Winchester will be my medium bore gun. Falls beautifully between my 260 Remington and my 45-70. Now all I need is a 204 for varmints, and realistically, I wouldn't need any other hunting gun!

Here's a Glen Fryxell article on the 35 Remington, it's on the Marlin lever gun but he also goes into shooting cast with it.

.358 just seems like such a logical choice based on the great bullet choices available and the reports of those who hunt with it. I'm sure I could do anything on the game hunted in the region where I live using it, and have the choice of grabbing a 45-70 if I felt the need to.

You won't be disappointed in the .358, very good round that works great with cast.

Yes sir it is .. I read all the articles I could find .. Liked what I saw..

Now on hand 100 rds 358 headstamped new brass , RCBS dies, Lyman expander, Lee FCD
Just need the barrel back and a 250 Gr Mold from Accurate .. Have a 359 190 HP form NOE as well
