Picked this one up off a cowboy in Californi!

Its a real mixed breed. SRC receiver, carbine barrel, rifle forend, unfitted lower tang........But for $500, it was a bargain!

It is 44-40 and the bore will be relined as it is real bad. But the internals are very good condition. Ordered a screw kit from Homestead Parts as some kitchen gunsmith with Craftsman screwdrivers had his way with it at some point in its life. Ordered a dust cover also.

Congrats on a nice find. Do you think it was special ordered or just evolved into what you found? May be worth a letter from Cody.

I had the opportunity to shoot an origional 1873 in 44-40 years ago with a truly horrible bore. Bullets keyholed and barely could stay on paper at 50 yds. Gent that owned it asked if relining would be they way to go. Took all of 5 seconds to say yes. Frank

I have a nice 32-20 that is an excellent candidate for relining, maybe later this year if things quit breaking around here.
