I got a chance to handle/shoot/perform some maintenance work on a fine early 1880 produced Whitney Kennedy in .44-40 (.44 WCF) thanks to an old friend.
Hopefully I did it justice with the following video. I loved the feel and smoothness of the action, very nice. I thought I'd post this here for anyone else who needed to do some maintenance on theirs. Don't be afraid of it, its much simpler than the 1892 or the toggle links. If you know your way around lever guns this ones fairly simple.

Here we did some shooting.

Interesting design, but I'll take the Win 92 any day.

Thanks for posting.

THANKS!

I just bought one. It is in the Brown Truck as we speak. Should be here next week. Looking forward to it!

I picked up one up about a year back that needs some TLC, it's 44-40. The lever pictured above is like mine, the later ones use something like the Winchester.

I bought one 10-15 years ago at an auction house for 300 bucks. A member of our shop took it and made it work again. I have shot it and it shoots nice. He has killed 3 deer with black powder loads. Great old rifle and older than the 1892 Winchester.
