307/356 Winchester brass and ammo

I received a letter yesterday from Winchester responding to my inquiry as to the production of 307 and 356 Winchester brass. The official sender advised that Winchester has scheduled both cases and ammo for production in 2015, although ammo production dates are yet unknown.

Now since these are hunting items I would bet both are available in time for hunting sales, if at all.

Their advice to get on a dealer's order backlog was not very helpful as such a thing is unlikely in reality just now in the reloading supplies market.

Nevertheless, spread the word, write some more letters to Winchester, Cabelas, and the like, and generate demand info for their ears.

I would think we better buy big this time to provide for our shooting futures.

Good plan, passed up a nice BB in 356 awhile back because of the brass situation.

I bought a 356 Win rifle a few months back. Deciding factor in the sale was it came with 150 cases of empty brass. :mrgreen:

Watch some gunbroker auctions for that stuff. I can't get in the same mindset with the people that pay $4/round for the 250gr factory stuff.

just laid away a .356 a few days ago and bought all the dealer had in ammo at just over $4 a piece have to spend what it costs if you want to have some ammo for these odd calibers.
Winchester told me today it is on their list of brass to make in 2016 will believe when I see it on the shelf of my LGS

My Marlin feeds converted LC 308 brass just fine. Every rifle is different but many others share my experience.

Grab anything .356, it's one of the finest levergun cals., behind the 45/70, but nothing else!!!

My converted Marlin 307 also works with 308 brass. Luckily I have a good supply of 307, but have been searching for 356 for my Win BB. I do have 5 boxes of factory ammo, but am looking for some brass to experiment with.

I am a 356 and 307 fan also. Have enough brass for myself and am looking to try the reformed 308. What I have experimented with so far has done well so I think it will work. By the way, both rounds are excellent performers. JW

The LGS had quite a few boxes of loaded 356 Win the other day. I do not recall the price on the 356 Win's, I think they were about the same as the 25-35's which were $41 / box of 20

Mark that is a good price as here they are getting $80 before sales tax on box of 20.

I will go back and double check the number of boxes and price and reply back here. I usually do not look at the loaded ammo, looking for ammo for my neighbor's son. His Dad my neighbor passed away a few years ago he had a Win 94 in 25-35 nad he wanted to shoot it. I thought it was odd that they had so many boxes of 356 and no 358 Win, 35 Whelan, 35 Rem, 350 Rem Mag.
