Anyone know how soon until CH4D has 101 dies for sale again? I need a 9mm punch for core seating 40 bullets as well as looking to buy the 45 set and maybe others.

Call Dave and ask. I spoke to him yesterday about 32 long colt dies and we spoke for about half an hour on different apects of it. Lot of knowledge and a good guy.

If you really want to know what is going on at CH/4D, Dave is the guy to talk to. He works second shift and I believe he is there alone.

I got feedback that they were going to produce them in January

I heard beginning of February myself. I'm looking to at least get a set of .357 Swage dies.....banking on it really since I ordered 2,600 jackets for that caliber from corbin late last year. and have little use for them otherwise. I have a 105 type Herters die but it wont work for what I want to do.

They seem to be keeping it on the down-low, i.e. it's not on their site, but they are taking orders for the #101 dies starting Monday (2/2/15). You have to call in your request. Beth emailed me the following caliber list:

9mm
38
40
41
44
45

Missing from before is the 30cal they used to make. I asked her if they could whoop up a basic 500 set but she said they're sticking to the six calibers, above. Still, I'm elated that someone is stepping in and meeting the demand. Sets will be $250 and will include both soft point and hollow point punches. I have a #101 in 44cal from years ago that only came with the SP. I'm hoping they can make me a 44 HP punch as well :D

I wish they would make a 30 cal, emailed Brian about a 44 set and now tempted to get a Ch4d

Thanks for letting us know to call in our orders, I wouldn't have known otherwise, would have just waited for the website to update.

Honestly, I hope their phone rings off the hook and that they take 100+ orders. I'm fine with waiting a few months but waiting for a year or more is total BS.

Just placed my order, the nice lady on the phone was not sure when the orders would go out but she said they had only a few other orders for the dies today. I thought for sure you guys would be complaining their phones would be busy.

I was order# 1, and ordered 3 sets. They said turn around was only a few weeks.

If you're referring to me, I said I hope their phone lines would be busy. They are the only swage die maker right now that appreciates my patronage. Telling your customers to wait a year or more is straight crackers.

I placed my order at 9:36 AM central time for my first set or real swage dies! I got the 40 cal dies. It was either one set or none at all. The boss wouldn't let me get both 40 and 45 sets. Oh well. Can't wait for when they come in!

What "the boss" doesn't know won't hurt her.

That's the thing, she will know. She handles all the finances, so she sees everything. If it wasn't for her, I would be dead broke because of all the stuff I would buy.

Here is what you do, on your way home from work start dumpster diving for scrap....take it to the scrap yard and get paid in cash. Take a nail clipper file and weld it to a spoon handle and use that to hollow out a hole under a floor board or behind a vanity to hide the cash. When you have enough saved up, make a outside contact to make the purchase for you...good luck.

Haha that's pretty elaborate. I already do save scrap copper from work. I have roughly 200 pounds of clean bare copper. That's my free spending, no questions asked cash. Just waitiing until I have roughly 500 pounds to cash it in.

Convince her it is a need and will save you money. The key to anything is how you present it

Dang, with me being in the same state as CH4D I was hoping I would be the first to get the new ones heh.....Hope they are worth the money....I have 3 other CH4D sets I'll be comparing them to as well. I'll be sure to report saturday night when I get home.

My dies showed up today...I got .357/38 dies, the nose seems awfully long for a pistol bullet, I was hoping to be able to duplicate 125gr factory but it seems the body proportions wont be right in this die set for that. To be honest it looks like a bullet nose design for a automatic not a revolver.

Thoughts?

What does the meplat measure on the CH bullet?

The large lead exposure exposure will aid expansion. There may be enough taper to that bullet for it to feed well in ruger's 77 357 rifle.

I drilled a larger opening, to widen the metplat, on the .38 dies and made a new nose punch on my first set. It looks better and works well, but I ordered another set that I plan to leave alone.

That was a short jacket, I have a few other lengths I'll try when I get the time to do so.....Currently in a paradigm shift mode at my tender age of 28....something about a full time job blah blah blah. I think that nose profile will feed marvously in my 77/357...Also that bullet was with the installed HP punch so solid would be a mite shorter.

I ordered my dies on Friday of last week and they arrived. I got 9mm and .38/.357. I now have 5 sets of their dies and never a problem. Also, I have used the notching too on 44 mag with CH4D dies and the results are good. I don't have any pictures though.

You might get to 300 ???
I believe I have some 280gr and 290gr made by BT with a CH4D die.
I could probably be convinced to look for them and send you some.

Yes, and once it hurts them, a trouble shared is a trouble halved. I suspect that that is in the marriage vows somewhere.

I bought some reloading dies from CH4 recently, and found them snowed under with work because of the run on firearms products. Not that America was queuing up to lay in .500/.450 Westley Richards No. 1 Express dies, surely, so it must have been the machine time. They promised a 4-5 month delivery time, kept to it, and gave me a lot of personal attention.

They did a run/are still doing a run of them, as was covered in another thread it was by word of mouth and you had to call to place your order.
