why are their almost no loads for .40 Smith & Wesson 1911 auto 165 grain lead round flat nose powder coated boolits...or not powder coated. (i like my purple boolits)

i haven't seem much of anything for 165 grains ....anybody got a handle on some load data?

did the search...checked all the books...checked all the web sites ...nada!

If it's for a 30 or 32 calibre rifle, I'd just use the data for 170 grain projos. Lots of data for those and five grains less boolit weight won't hurt anything. While total bearing surface may influence the issue to some extent, it's not going to hurt anything at moderate pressures if you're sizing normally.

I did just that for a 165 grain plain base boolit for my 32 Special rifle last month. Results over the chronograph gave no surprises.

Use 170-175 gr data, you were not going to red line it anyway and that gives you some safety zones.

I shoot a 160 rn pb 40 cal boolit that is cast from an NOE mold and then powder coated. My load is 4.6 grains of hp-38. This is the same load I use under 155 lswc commercial bullets, which gave me 1,000 fps over the chrono. My pistol is an XD 4" and has 30-40k rounds of wear on the recoil spring. It also shot great in my brother's XD 40 5" which has only had a couple thousand rounds through it at most.
