I was in "want" of a good micrometer.

I have one, just wanted another so I don't have to go downstairs to get the one I have each time I want it and then when I'm downstairs.... you know, chase it all over.

This guy drops by the shop asks if he knows anyone who wants to buy a micrometer set, he has one for sale.

I speak up.

There is a one inch, a two inch, a three inch and a four inch micrometer.

Starrett with the lock ring, all in original boxes.

All for $100. :)

Almost broke my arm reaching for my wallet.

I hope yours serves as well as my twin has.

Worked in a machine shop building cameras so large it took an 18 wheeler to move them.

The owner (boss) said get that Starrett and you will never regret it.

Well that was in 1960 and no I have never regretted it YET.

I have had a 1" Starrett, with carbide faces since I bought it new in '69. Used it every day in the machine shop I worked in for 6 years. It has served me well ever since. You did good.

I still have my Starrett mikes, calipers and scrapers from working at GM!
While I don't use the scrapers very often, my Starretts still serve me well.
Bad Water Bill first started measuring things in cubits when he was building the pyramids......:kidding:

Sorry but we used didgits as they were far more accurate than cubits

Cubits were measured from the tip of the finger to the elbow.

Which finger and how tall was the one being measured?

Yes that was loooong before those kiddies decided to build them upside down ice cream cones.[smilie=b:[smilie=b:

I picked up a Mitutoyo .0001" with the old skool digital readout and thought I was doing good!:?::?::?::?:. i know i'm old and out of touch but digital is old school now?????? i have a starret indicator with no dial on it. just a little register board with some witness marks and a ball tipped probe. still can use it if need be. glad u got a good tool there. mitty tools will get u by. just that sometimes u can get a bad one. good customer service tho. p.s. don't know how to do the quote thing. this just really put a darn near expired date on me[smilie=b:

Blammer, ya might ought to ICE the tools down to cool them off. The original owner might want them back if not covered by ins,.

That's a great set of Mic's for a great price. I have several Starrett Tools,
I remember when I misplaced my 0-1" Outside Starrett sometime back. I looked for it on and off foe several months. I ordered another one from Flebay. I got a good price on it shipped at around $20. The day it came in, I found the one that I had misplaced. Now I have two Starrett 0-1" Mics.
