the lee buldge busting kit for 9mm is makorov push thru die which is 2000ths smaller than luger l think. l've shot a bucket full of my 9 ammo with the bb'ed cases.

Harbor freight arbor press: $53 out the door. Bolted dwn, longer lever of old dillon, gotta machine a big fat die holder but its good rite now.

l was busting with big rcbs ss press, took alot of pressure and brass would pop thru. With arbor press you can feel brass mash thru all the way, no sudden burst/pop.

A little lube goes a long way with the 9's.

Yea, i been washing first. Could try that but with arbor its a different smooth world now.
Remember, very few people have a lee bb kit in 9mm, (mak & luger rim base 0.392) that ships with makorov die. Most peeps just use a lee FCD and push thru that. Before arbor, it was hard on 1/3 of the brass pile with big rcbs press.

Redding makes a push thru, wonder why no 9mm?

l wanta make sure the rim is mashed back in. Thats why l swage em.

We always advise people to use the Mak die on my FB page "Lee Reloading and Casting Equipment Group".

Gunoil, did you by chance SS/Wet Clean this brass 1st? It has been noted by several people "Dead Clean" brass is even harder to push through a carbide die! Try tumbling the 9's in corncob with a little Nu-Finish after washing, I think you will still see a difference even with the arbor press?

As for the Redding it's the 9mm's taper, they feel Lee's solution is less then optimal. Hence no push thru in 9mm from Redding.

I thought about making a automated push through case sizer like the bullet sizer I built but I already have two case pro roll sizers, so that project will have to wait until I really do have too much time on my hands.

Thanks,
yea 44 V, thats my next piece of equipment, my neighbor does some in lizard litter for me after l ss wash sometimes.

I'll try lube/bb first then wash. Its really already so much better with arbor.

your right but its not to size the case for loading. Its to take the glock bulge out of the base of the case. I allway size with my 9mm sizer die after running through a bulge buster.
the 9mm is a tapered case and needs to be run thru a roll sizer, not a push thru die

too many things

9s work if not a military they have a bit larger rim Buckshot makes one that does work

Yea Lloyd, to many dont get what it is for.

Actually puts the very bottom thickest part of brass back to size. Thats why its so hard to push thru.

All these with LEE BB kit are 0.387 Big hand full, hell no wonder its hard to push thru. I think its usually .392 or .394..

Gunoil, my apologies for the rather obscure reference.

Gecko45 was a "Mall Ninja" on several gun boards years ago. He was famous for tall tails and often giving advice on subjects he knew nothing about and never ever read the earlier comments in a thread.

We were talking about him earlier on another forum and the drift on your OP reminded me of it. LOL

Yea, l get lost too. 44V
John Lee put out a great price on these kits.
jmorris got me on good path for now. The lee budget price is good, its fun, and l like prep'in brass. l didnt in the beginning. Maybe a roller next year. SS check coming sept 1st. Newbies can make good 9mm with lee's kit and cartridge gage.

This kit is swaging pretty small: 0.387 Dang things are all the same though.

You could always hone it out to drop them the size you want.
