I had some (500) Alberts 210 sw bullets that i picked up on the cheap and thouught they would be nice in my S and W 22. Since I just wanted to see if they would lead and my measure was filled with Trail Boss i thought I would give that a go. I set the mesure and dumped 5.2 grains of TB into a 45ACP case and loaded up 3 rings. I fired about 12 and there was no leading so i sand bagged the gun at 25 yards and fired a group. I was plum surprised! The group went 1.7 inches at 25 yards and the bullets were zipping out at 840 fps from my short barreled revolver. This should make a good all round woods loafer load. It's pretty rare for me to find a load that shoots this good on the first try.

You hit right at my load for Trailboss and a Lee's H &G 200gr. copy. I can get really good groups with my 625, Blackhawk (45ACP cylinder), and my 1911. It seems to work for everything.

Not to be a wet blanket, but Trail Boss will cost you a lot more than Bullseye for about the same use. Bullseye or Red Dot takes very little per cartridge and they cost considerably less than Trail Boss. Most of the Bullseye shooters shoot Bullseye for a reason. It works and is economical. Win 231 works quite well also, but will cost you a bit more.

I load and shoot in quantity and while performance (read that accuracy) is paramount, value is also GOOD.

For plinking I will use my standard 4.2 of Bullseye and a 230 gr. bullet but in the field I want a load that will shoot as close as I can hold and finding a load that shoots POA in a fixed sight revolver is a real treat. I am pretty well fixed for powder right now as I had a fellow who quit reloading give me 18 pounds of powder. Included in the deal was an 8 pound caddy of PB so i will be working up some PB loads. Now if I just knew waht to do with the 4 pounds of H570?

Well, not much experience with cast stuff in an ACP but have tested Trailboss in the Colt 1911 45 with J loads. At 4 to 4.5gr per shot not very expensive compared to all the other gun nut stuff I invest in, shoot and reload for. The Colt has a medium weight spring and any where between 4 and 4.5 gr. Trailboss under a PRVI 185 gr jacketed HP bullet is neither a wimp load nor is it an action wrecking hammer. Seems to be ideal for the application. Very clean, easy and accurate to meter and very accurate on target. Just some added info :coffee:

In cobbling together pop-gun loads for two different boolit weights in .44 Mag and three in .45 ACP, I found that Trail Boss showed a marked preference for WLP over Fed. 150. Better velocity, much smaller ES and SD.
