Got off the road twice, way before daylight, after that it went smooth enough. lol

Mine was busy, evacuation training, security brief, Sim ride for maneuvers validation. A long day with the last check ride of my career in the morning, a rite of passage for me. In three months I shall end a great career and start a new part of my journey: an old retired guy.......

Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Offroad excursions are enjoyable only when planned, IMHO. Take care, my friend.

Not really an off road excursion, only one side of the truck was off the road. The funny part was I drove the first 28 miles of that twisty curvy one lane dirt road, before I even chained up, then didn't go 200 hundred yards till I was off the road. lol

One side can be bad enough, lol. Chains are a mixed bag, as you know.

Yea, but I would still be there if I didn't have them, sure made some impressive ruts in the snow. lol The day before two went off on the Dalton, and another friend rolled one over (tanker), at least I didn't have a 5 to 10 thousand wrecker bill. lol

Made a quick grocery run ahead of nasty weather moving in. 19 when I left the house at 12:30, 9 when I got home at 3pm. 32mph gusts and a ground blizzard going on in the open spots between groves. Grabbed a few things, tried to not kill any kids while in WalMart even after one rammed my cart into my shin... knew I should have went yesterday! Usually go on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Went to work high of 27 we're on our way up. Listened to my Cardinals lose on the radio. And the biggest house in town is currently burning down one street over (the owners are in Texas I hope no one was in there).

So all in all a pretty eventful day in our metropolitan area of 1200

Usually go on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Early or late are the best times.
Never at the first of the month, or thereabouts.

Sounds like you did well. My day was good too. Worked with my new cast iron griddle. Made chocolate banana pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Sunny side up with a smile. Went out for coffee, seen a friend at the LGS, ran some other errands, watched the Dirty Dozen while having lunch and then out for a nature walk.

Flylot, good wishes on your coming retirement. I left CAL nearly 8 years ago and love the quiet!

Yesterday, I was up at 0430 and drove to a cowboy match in the mud and cold. Gun cart wheels are now shod in adobe, but I shot well and had a clean match. There was a film crew from the Pacific Rim branch of the Discovery Channel with another posse. I heard they were from Singapore. One beauty was dressed as an 1890's San Francisco princess and she shot clean, too. Paladin would have turned and stared at her on the street. Probably a good thing I'll be unlikely to see footage of me eating tamales after the match.

It sucked. Two days in a row!
I go back to work on Monday. I have been out for seven weeks recovering from TURP surgery. It was supposed to be only a month, but I had a major bleeding event at week three.
Two tires on my pickup were losing air and I thought it might be a good idea to get them fixed. Friday my truck wouldn't start. No jumper cables. Charging the battery didn't help. The end of the battery cable for the positive terminal corroded off. So a road trip to Nissan for a new terminal. The nut was seized and I had to cut it apart with a Dremel tool and a carbide cutting disk. Another road trip to Autozone for nuts and jumper cables. Got the cable fixed. Still wouldn't start. Charged the battery again. It started. Too late to fix tires.
Saturday morning it wouldn't start again. More battery charging got it started. Drove to the tire place. I could see an obvious screw in the right rear tire. The right front has been repaired several times and resumed leaking.
Tire place replaced right front, no charge, and repaired right rear. Since my pickup is a four wheel drive, the tire height for both tires on an axle need to be the same. My unused spare went to the left rear and the new right front went to the right rear. Success at last.
I got to the barber shop after they closed. My co-workers can see me shaggy and worry about me turning into a hippy.
Now if it starts in the morning all is quiet on the Western Front!

Been good so far.. Got up at 400 to be at the fire station by 530, we got one call today, and we just finished up training. My wife and baby are fixing to come visit me, and I'll be here till 0600 tomorrow. I taught some of the guys on my engine a few rope things they didn't even know.

Ohio gun collectors show yesterday, found an NRA reloading manual, two molds and a tasty hot dog.
today I cleaned out the garage, moved my old car to winter storage, started dinner, and built my very first AR lower.
now I'm warming my toes by kerosene heater.

I have spent the last 10 days in the city, house & pup sitting for my son and his girlfriend ...... :killingpc

2 six month old Boxer pups & a 5 year old Psychotic Schnauzer plus listening to nitely gunfire & sirens has overloaded my sense of humor ....... [smilie=f:

I'm taking SWMBO back to the mountain, we may come out by June ......;)

My day was good. Got a couple projects finished. Just put a big pot of Lima Beans that I've been soaking all day on the fire with a big old ham bone that I saved from the Christmas Holidays.

My day has been wonderful! I found my primer thingy for my press. You know that chunk of metal that allows the spent primer to slide into the little cup waiting to catch them? I've been looking for a few weeks now! Found it in a box of spent primers... Right next to the jug of spent primers.

Oh, and its playoffs. I'm making pizza later. I finished a batch of the best sauce ever.

How was my day?

Fantastic. Wife and I got up, ate breakfast, got dressed and went to church. Afterwards to daughter and 1 granddaughter out for dinner, then spent the rest of the day with them. Weather wasn't the greatest, but none of us are sick, we all had a great time, food was good, little more to ask for.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning. My alternator charged my battery up enough on the way back from the tire shop to easily start two days later. I was on time to work.

It was bitter cold here with wind today staued inside and just hung out for the day. Was a good day as I had hot food and drinks no Phone calls ( my oldest Daughter 29 is going thru some rough times with drugs and issues) Talked to middle daughter and grandson for awhile on the phone and heard the new grandson cooing and carrying on in the back ground. Just relaxing and hopping to sleep better tonight, Worrying over eldest dosnt help.
