If you have been reading any of my recent post you will found I have been asking about loads etc, for the Spanish 43 Remington RB. I have been wanting one for a long time. This Christmas family members went together and found me one on GB. I am now waiting for it to arrive.
Ready formed brass is out of my price range so I am trying to find cheaper brass I can form to the 43 Spanish. From what I can find on the Web the 348 win might work. I am in need of just one piece of 348 win to see if this might work.

No, I didn't. It came with used brass.
The case needs to be shrunk near the rim and I have been told it is easy to break RCBS sizing dies.
Then it has to be fire formed.

I still could use just one piece of 348 brass if someone has one to spare.

Check with Bob Hayley In Seymour TX. He sells 43 Spanish brass made from 348 win. $1.80 each. I don't think you can mess around and make
it any cheaper. He grantees it to work. I've told people here on this site about him before, but everybody wants the go to Buffalo bullets for their
brass. Your choice. Hayley's phone number 940-888-3352.

I take 348 win and anneal the neck, 5grs of bullseye, a wad to keep the powder in the case. Put case in gun and pull the trigger. Brass is fire formed to your chamber. This is how I made brass for an Austrian Wrendl. After fire forming, run the brass through your sizing die to finish. 43 Spanish and Wrendl are almost identical. I will send you a couple of pieces of brass.

Looks as if my rifle is one with a tighter chamber as the 348 Win would have to be swaged down as some have said.

I had a great time this weekend, we will have to do it again.

Only thing, I think George got into the brass and lead while we were playing. I think he got off with 500 pounds of brass and another 400 pounds of lead.

I talked to Bob Hayley this morning. He will convert your 348 Win brass to .43 Spanish brass for $1/each.
It sure sounds like a bargain to me!

@brstevns - how is the rim diameter is your 43 Spanish? I've recently started shooting my 43 Spanish Reformato and find the rim diameter of the 348 win? My 43 Spanish Reformato really needs the full .630" diameter rim to work good. With the .596" rim I have to be careful when put brass into chamber so the rim doesn't fall past the ejector. The small rim still ejects good, just need to be careful chambering a round. A gentleman on this forum "Toot" says he used 45-70 brass for his 43 Spanish. I tried 45-70 brass, it fireforms ok, but the rim is still small for me.

I ordered 10 of the 43 Spanish brass from Buffalo Arms and they had a .596" rim which is too small. The brass is marked JBA. I then ordered 20 brass from Captech International that say their brass has a .631" rim and it's MUCH better. Interesting the brass is marked JBA, but even looks different. Check this link about half way down for photos of both brass. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?280689-43-Spanish-Reformato

Anyway - I'm just learning about this stuff and it's FUN!!!

Ken H> Mine is the standard 43 Spanish not the Reformato. I was given some Bell brass for it and they measure .624 across the base. I have had problems with the reformed .348 slipping of the extractor as well. At the moment I am using brass formed from 7mm, 300 win mag and 375 H&H brass with a small brass ring super glued into the extractor groove of this brass and then turned down.

It must be nice to shoot your roller in the back yard. When I visit my brother in Missouri I fly into St. Louis and drive south. I always stop at Arnold and have a bar-b que sandwich at the big restaurant there. I can't remember if it is named Bandana or Bonanza. Whatever the name they make a good sandwich.

That would be Bandana's haven't been there in a few years.
I don't get to shoot in my back yard either. The pic's were made at another members place, he gets to shoot in his back yard. Brassmagnet and some of his friends got together to help me with my roller. We all took turns shooting the old RB at the members place. A great bunch of guys! Yes Sir!
I have to drive about 20 miles to a Missouri Conservation run Shooting Range just to fire off a few rounds out to 100 yards

I got my .348 Win brass reformed to .43 Spanish. It needs a good polish.
Now I need to size and lube some 439186 boolits.
I have several different head stamps of brass to try. This is going to be fun. I even have some 5744 powder to try.

Hi Ron
Finally have mine cutting clover leaves at 50 yards. I had to cheat a little and mount a scope on it. The 439186 and a Lee 45 cal minie sized to .440 worked the best . A load of 12.0 gr of Unique seems to be a little more accurate the the 5477 in my rifle.
You are going to have fun! I am still making brass from 300 win brass and it is holding up well.
