Guys -

I've been given a case of Alcan LR primers. My friend bought them around 1980 or so. He never used them, so he gave them to me. They've been stored well and look factory fresh.

Anyone ever use these type of primers? What's your opinion of them?

Any reason I shouldn't use thhem?

Thanks-

Bayou52, I'm using some now that I purchased at a gun show about 4 years ago. Every one has gone off. I've seen no difference between them and other brands. Very good primer in my opinion.

I have loaded some Alcan LR primers in reloads for my M1, worked fine. About 1980 vintage give or take 5 years/

Good news, Guys. Thanks. I've got a case of 1,000 that I'll now begin to use.

They are V. good primers but don't expect to judge pressures w/them. They are on the soft side.

they made Herters and I still have about 2000 and never had a problem they are a little softer and I like that
only thing is I like to look at old boxes and I use the new stuff first LOL

I still have a few hundred from the 60's that still work fine.

I would buy Alcan primers in the 80's because they were a bit cheaper than the other brands. Never had any problems with them and still have a few boxes squirreled away, with some Alcan powder, to use when I only need a few primers. I liked them and would buy more. Primers are very stable, have a long shelf life and there is no reason not to use them.
