I found a CZ527 Carbine, 7.62X39, in a pawn shop about a year ago. It had a few dings and scrapes from riding in a truck rack, but the price was right, so it came home with me.

I tried it with a little bit with the Lee C312-155-2R (supposed to be "THE BOOLIT" for the Ruski Shortski) and wasn't impressed. Results did improve going from .309 to .311 then to .312, but that's all this mold will do. So it sat in the safe.

Got it out again last week and looked around to see what else I have that might fit and spied the 311407 GB mold. Had about twenty sized .313, checked and lubed with Dan's Bull Shop Speed Green.

I loaded three each with 10, 11 and 12 gr. of Alliant 2400 at 2.143 OAL to just touch the rifleing. At 50 yds. the 10 gr. load made a kinda vertical string at .527 center to center. The 12 gr. load was another vertical string at .770. I was impressed, to say the least, but what surprised me was the 11gr. load.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/KYCaster/000_0413.jpg

It's been a long time since I jerked three shots into a group like that, so I just had to try it again. Loaded up three more rounds and, dangit!, the group size almost doubled!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/KYCaster/000_0417.jpg

Don't ya hate when that happens!!!

silly redneck
three shots to make a single hole on paper ? Ifin ya used a 45-70 you only would have needed one shot .

What does that 311407 weigh? I have been having real good luck in my Charles Daly 7.62 with 11.5gr of BlueDot with a GC 115 flat point sized .313. It shoots to the same point of aim as my full power load (165gr LBT lfn loaded to 2000fps).

What a hoot. I got in on the same group buy & I've got a 7.62 x 39 - a Handi Rifle.

I thought I'd try that slug in the Handi since I couldn't get much out of the TLC312-160-2R (same but tumble lubed). Tried the 311407 with H4895. Didn't think it would fly with the GC sticking into the case (2.210" OAL).

First 3 of 5 went into the same hole at 40 yards - the rest weren't far behind, but not as good as yours. Best part was the 1800 fps velocity!

New fun round!!
