I haven't used 870/872, but I have used Accurate 8700 which I believe is in the same ballpark, burning rate wise. I bought 500 Remington PSPCL 175 gr bullets about 20 years back and used them with this powder in a 700 Classic 7mm mag. I never was pleased with the accuracy of the loading, however. The rifle shot very well indeed with lighter bullets.

im going to play with it this summer in the 264,7mag, and 257wby. Ive inherited an 8lb keg of 870 and two kegs of wc860 so id like to find a use for it. Im sure though its probably not going to give top velocitys in the 7mag. Might do better in the 257 and 264 though. But honestly its a bit to slow for them and id never go out and buy it for them. Ive got a 300 ultramag and a 7stw so Im sure it wont go to waste as it would work well in those big cases.

I used H870 in a 7mm Rem mag a few years ago with Hornady 154 gr. Velocity was a bit slow but accuracy was good. I switched to IMR 4831 with much better results. I never tried it with 175's.

i can take the trade off on velocity for accuracy. you know somwtime top speedis over rated anyway

I've wanted to try it since I have about 24lbs. of WC872 & 16 lbs. of WC 860 on hand, works great in a duplex load for my 45-70 but I have been meaning to try it in my 7mm mag but have only been shooting cast lately & 7mm is the only size I don't have a mold for yet but it's on my to do list. I'm hoping it will work out as long as I can get decent accuracy & hopefully no unburnt powder I'd be pleased with it. I miss shooting that rifle & would like to give it a work out with cast projectiles.

We've loaded quite a bit of 860 (Only slightly faster than 870 depending on lot) in the 7 Rem Mag. Both of my sons shot nice bucks this year with the 7 mag. 162 gr. Hornady BTSP over 860.
