i think it's a keeper went shooting today put 150 rounds through it with out a hiccup. load was 4.5 gr of Bullseye under
a 230gr boolit at about 30' i don't know if this is good for a 1911 or not but I'm happy

I see about one mag full that missed the big hole in the target. Better send the gun to me. I'm sure it's junk!:kidding:

Looks good to me. How did it feel for you?

Hard to complain about that. I suggest a H&G 68 loaded to 1.250 to 1.260 LOA
for a real H&G, over about 4.8 gr of Titegroup for a working load, lower to 4 gr
for a target load. Also try Lyman 452460 at about 4 gr of Titegroup, too.

Be sure to taper crimp as a separate operation, I got until the neck is about
.466 or so, which is about .004 tighter than straight.

Sounds like a good run. Takes dedication to keep shooting a man who has that big a hole in him. Lol. But, at least you know exactly where it's hitting.

i would be interested in what boolit your using and the OAL. I'm working up loads for my new gun. The boolit I'm using is the lee 230 grain TC (standard lube groove).

I use both Titegroup & Bulleye with the Lyman 452374, can't see any difference in my Colts.

4.8 of BE is essentially identical to 4.8 of TG in this cartridge with a 200 lead SWC.
Either will make about 850 fps in most guns with a 5" bbl. Neither is a max load.

I have a Ruger 1911

I use either the LEE Bevel-Base copy of the H&G 68 or the LEE TC Bevel-Base boolit (both molds are 6-Cavity).
as a previous poster said, taper crimp as a last, separate step.
