I've read about about this mould. Al Dinian favored it.
I know its a 215 gr SWC with a bevel base.
Has there ever been a group buy?

Anybody compair it to a HG68.

If you are looking for accuracy, there was an article in A. Rifleman many years ago about champion shooters and their loads. Names like Harry Reeves, F. Bob Chow, Gil Hebard, Gertrude Backstrom and W.T. Tony etc. They were about evenly split between the H&G 68 and the H&G 130. Jim Clark used both casting the 130 at 185 gr. and the 68 at 210 gr. Al (Alton) Dinan wrote an article entitled .45 ACP Handloading Accuracy testing the 68 with a bevel base, the 130, the 78 and a Lyman 45266. He found the 68 bevel base at 200 gr. to give the smallest groups.

I bought a bullseye 1911 back in 1977 that came with two hundred rounds loaded with the 45266. I promptly shot them up but was underwhelmed. There were folks that swear by it, but I couldn't see why and chose not to buy the mold but got a single cavity 452-460 for 15.00 dollars instead. The gun is long gone, but I still have the 452-460 mold some place.

If the gun is capable, any one of the 3 bullets (H&G 68,130, 452460) will stay well inside the 10 ring@50yds. My wad gun did slightly better with the Lyman 452460.

Got a 45266 in '82 and never used it for anything but a Dragoon and a Walker.
But it was great in them! :Fire:
