This has to be a rare/classic/antique/unique/obsolete/one of a kind top punch. I think someone with a little metalshop skills could make some of these and make a fortune.....

Holy crap! What's eBay's latest ad campaign, "It feels better if you win it"........ It only feels good til you find one in a catalog for about $50 less.

I checked the feedback of the person that won the bid on the nose punch and looked at some of the items that he had won. It appears that, if he wants something, he uses a bid-sniping program to enter a large bid amount just 4 seconds before the bidding ends. Apparently if he wants something, he has enough money to just bid whatever it takes to win the bid.

Serves the sniper right, but what were the other 4 fools thinking bidding along with him.

I would have made one before spending anything near that much for a top punch, this is ridiculous.

You take another size top punch chuck it up in a drill and uses different files to get the shape that you want or in my shop, I make my own from bar stock.

I don't like evil Bay and avoid dealing with places like that.

Four different people bid above $30. I will watch for one this week at the gun show.

.................Holy Hannah on a pogo stick! There were 3 idiots and a final moron that bid a nose punch (For God's sake) to $62! Just totally unbelieveable. Is there like a Nose Punch Collector's Guild someplace? Those guys don't need to be watched, they need to be looked after :-)

Buckshot: You have it backwards. It was one idiot and three morons.

On the level of intelligence, idiots have an IQ of 0 to 25, next step up is imbecile, then moron.

I don't think the other three make it up to moron.

This species of stupidity is what I call "The George Steinbrenner Effect", wherein someone is willing to pay any price--regardless how exorbitant--in order to claim victory. Or, attempt same.

I ran into someone like that a couple of summers ago; a person who would not be beat no matter how high the bid went. So I followed him for a few weeks and made sure he paid as much as he could. I suppose it was wrong [smilie=1: but no one else had a chance as long as that guy was around anyway. Didn't hear the sellers complaining.

Speaking of expensive stuff on ebay, how about this for a smelter pot.

Whenever you participate in an auction with the thought that you can "win" you're screwed before your first bid. Whenever an auction turns into a competition, the only "winners" are the seller and the auction house, unless, of course, you count the guys on the sidelines that are laughing our asses off.

Maybe it's the rare experimental top punch that always remains concentric with the die body and adapts to any caliber and nose shape:mrgreen:. The one that the loading tool companies bought and suppressed so we have to keep buying punches and dies.

I think you guys are all wrong.

All those high bids are G.W.B.'s fault.

If you do not believe me, ask Hillary.
