View Full Version : Lubing Lee 'Tumble' Lube Boolits with a Lubrisizer?

Can it be done? Is it advisable?

I've got a Lee 45 cal mold that drops nice boolits but they are intended for tumble lube.

Can I lube these in my Lyman 4500? I really hate where the whole bullet is coated in that nasty alox lube.

Yeah, you can do it. Just don't size the grooves right off it. It's gonna be sticky though. You might look in to Ben's Liquid Lube. It should do what you are after and get rid of your stickiness.

Well dang it. I did search this forum. I guess my Google Fu is weak today!

I may experiment with only filling half the tiny grooves or maybe dig more into trying JPW instead of the liquid Alox.

Don't size it more that .001"-002" more than that and you start to loose space for lube. grooves are very small doesn't take to wipe them out.

These drop close to .452 and that's where I size to as well.

Another vote for Ben's Liquid Lube.

Easy to make, easy to do, easy to use too much so go easy on the pour.

I have been using foam packing to make drying blocks for mine, using a dremel or soldering iron to make holes so I can drop them nose first, let the bases dry without touching anything.

Also lets me wipe the noses after the bases have dried. Inside the hole they don't dry much, so a quick wipe with a towel after loading leaves them clean and shiny in front, lubricated in back.

+1 on a 45-45-10 type of lube. Get a medium disposable bowel with a snapon lid and fold a paper towel im the bottom. Add a small squirt of lube on towel and roll your boolits around in it for a few seconds. You should not see lube dripping from the boolits. Just an almost invisible film. When dry, its not sticky at all. I lube before sizing and after. Works fine.

Stop buying those molds with the mini-grooves.

Stop buying those molds with the mini-grooves. Use Bullshop's NASA lube for mini-grove bullets. Dan Theodore's 'Money Bullet' has mini's and lubed with NASA, all GG's are filled (I pan lube them) - plus no starvation or leading
