Add to that the likes of Bing Crosby, Danny Kay and Danny Thomas and they made the season for every one.

Yeah now the troops have nobody going around like this. Sad to see how low national pride has sunk

Gary Sinise does a pretty good job with the USO and raising monies for the troops. Robin Williams did also till he died recently. Then we have Stephen Colbert, Wayne Newton, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, just to name a few, Oh and don't forget Willie Nelson. So yes their still those who care.

I personally know the son of Perry Como, you should hear what he has to say about Bob Hope, not really flattering.

But I guess he was a good actor & entertainer. And his Christmas tours were good.

My infantry company was pulled in to a forward firebase on hill 1338 just south of Dak To for Christmas of 1967. An angel named Chris Noel choppered in and entertained a very appreciative audience for a full two hours.

But they never make a special show for TV that I have seen anymore. They need to, start to rebuild some national pride in everyone instead of the hate and division our leaders are spreading

This is true. Today the civilian population is not REALLY involved with the military or in fighting wars. During WW I & WW II folks had restrictions as to what they could buy, I remember my brothers saying they cut the ops and bottoms out of tim cans and smashed them flat to recycle for the war effort, they collected milk weed pods because the silk was used as stuffing for life preservers I believe. My mother did sewing of some sort for the war effort. There was a small machine shop in our small town which made steel armor piercing bullets, one at a time.

Today it's much different, people buy plastic ribbons claiming "I support our troops" many made in china. We get worked up over organizations actually helping our troops and giving much needed home remolding and other stuff to the troops all because they do not support the 2nd admt. While not good, we throw them under the bus because of it.

Oh, It is what it is, and it's likely I'll never be able to change it.

I was a Lieutenant in 2003 when we invaded Iraq. Shortly before my unit crossed LD, we were in Kuwait making preparations. If memory serves me correctly, Bob Hope died while we were there or shortly before. The DFAC was renamed "Bob Hope DFAC."

Funny how most if not all of the music performers are of the country genre. Just sayin'
