I'm just getting into the casting of boolits after many years of not being around it. I used to melt WW's with a buddy then cast boolits but we never molded ingots out of the stuff we did't use. We just let the not used stuff sit in the pot till next time. My question, I have a choice between a tin muffin pan or a cast iron cornbread stick thing to make my lead ingot's. Which one would you choose, and why???? I really don't care about the looks, just don't wanna have the lead stick to the mold when it cools.

By the way, this is my first post. Do I get a free drink or something???:drinks:

:)

Go with the cast iron. I've had to destroy the tin muffin pans to get the lead out. And sure, stop by and I'll buy you a drink. :)

I use soda cans. Make sure they are absoluletly dry, (I put them on the burner to make sure). If you fil them like 1/3 full and let cool awhile then ad more 1/3 and again they will stick a little when you rip of the aluminum but come apart easy in 1/3 chunks for the pot. ! can is just under 9# and the can keeps them clean until ready to use.

Even if they are not dry you just get dried soda in you mix. It fluxes out. Lead can be poured into water never water into lead. G
