Here are a couple shots of the Old man and my Springer Spaniel hunting pheasants, not bad for a 88 year old fart, hopefully we will have a few more seasons in the field together....Teddo125122125123

I title this photo "Hand over that pheasant to my dad or I will shoot you!"

Great post, thanks for sharing.

Those trips afield with his son are what keeps him young. Looks like a Win M12 or 97 he is holding, the classic shotgun.

Lucy will drop on command but this pheasant was lightly shot and wasn't quite dead enough to drop at his feet, and yes it is a Winchester model 12 in 16 gauge. He has a beautiful model 12 12 gauge with AAA wood on it that he has shot since the 50's but he is finding it now a little slower to swing so he has switch to the 16 and he is doing much better in his shot to kill average.

Everyone should have a Old Man like mine, he got me into guns and fishing shortly after I was out of three corner drawers and has been my hunting, shooting, fishing partner my whole life. It really sucks that he is on the wrong side of the hour glass, I cherish each and every outing we have....Teddo

Cherish your time together, not everyone will be able to have memories like this. I try to take my children with me on fishing and hunting trips as I had great memories with my dad on the ones we went on that made a profound impact on me.

That's just great! I wish my dad liked hunting. Took him dove hunting once and he shot one bird...winged it...and couldn't finish it. He's a softie lol!

I hope you guys have many more seasons in the field together.

My dads favorite shotgun was the 16 gauge he had as a kid, passed on to me, I had it fully restored and gave it back. Little single shot Stevens and he loved it and used it more than his Benelli

One of the few things my Dad and I have in common are hunting....... I thought I took my last hunting trip with him a few years ago but he is still around thanks to advanced medicine. Just not as eager to go out as he was but hoping to get him out for a pheasant hunt over Christmas break.

What wonderful memories. I hope to live to my 80's in decent health. Being able to continue to hunt would be a huge bonus.

Lost my dad 2 years ago, I got the single shot 16 gauge back yet again. Need to see if one of the grand kids want it.

Ted, I am so happy for you....my dad has been gone for 12 years but when he was alive I forced him into dove hunting and he liked it to a degree....his brothers and my mothers father taught me deer hunting....Those memories with my dad, uncles and granddad is forever etched in my mind and provides me many happy reflection sessions......Love him while ya got 'em!

The wealth of knowledge, experience and wisdom gained over those 88 years of life is more valuable than the richest treasure.

Lost my dad and hunting mentor/partner in 2005. There is still a void in my life, he was not only my dad, but my best friend.

No need to say more, as you fella's all understand exactly what I am trying to say.

Treasured days shooting with family members are to live for.Thats me on the right,I was 78 yesterday (Dec 23rd),my Grandson Age 30 is on the extreme left just out out of the picture with Arms folded. He shoots better than I do but each day is a pleasure.Within the next day or so he is about to be a Dad, and so the generations go on.
Teddo, look after your Dad,I lost mine when I was 16.Best wishes.
