Anyone know what the rams at Raton weigh? I was told they were a special armour plate for high power but did not ask about weight. Watched Steve Baldwin take them down easily with his 35-40 maynard and Rick Moritz had no problems with his 38-50. I sometimes ring one at our home range with a 40-65.

According to the NRA rule books the animals for highpower and bpcr are the same. I read somewhere they weigh about 85 lbs.

A full scale NRA ram should weigh about 55 pounds. Specifications for IHMSA are for all purposes identical. These specs call for a hardened steel plate of 3/8" thickness. T1 or similar plate was very common which can be BH 320-360. Many are now made from AR400 or AR500.

+1 on 55 lb. Was at an IHMSA match in MN where the temp and the humidity was in the 90's. The new club members had to put in work hours. Wonder if after a day of setting 55 lb. rams that any of them showed up again.
