How are 9mm cases working out for you guys when drawn down for .357 jackets? I know .380 is preferable but those are not as common. I know corbin wants $58 per 500 on .357/9mm jackets....see them on ebay for $40 for 250....is that really what they are selling for or is there a source I do not know about.

I really prefer .32 Auto and .380 Auto for swaging into .357" bullets. I use 9x19 cases for making .400" and .410" caliber bullets, and .40 cases for making .429" caliber bullets.

Hope this helps.

Richard Corbin sells them all day long for $60 per 1000 or $12 per 200. As far as I can tell, Richard has everybody beat on jacket prices, and many people don't seem to know it.

Dang, I was just on his site earlier looking for prices and couldn't find them...Many thanks, thats cheaper than the deal I was just working out with somebody.

What length is considered a full jacket for .357? half etc?

I like using the 9mm cases for the 357's. They can be trimmed down for lighter bullets of left full size for the long heavy bullets. Some 150gr hp's made from both 380acp & 9mm cases, the 9mm were cut down to 380acp length.

The 380acp cases will work for the 150gr/160gr 357 bullets but they aren't the greatest for the 175gr/200gr bullets.

What weight does the full length 9mm cases work best for? also what do you use to get the star crimps on the noses? I'm looking at the .660" length jackets corbin sells just to have some on hand but I'll probably be using mostly 9mm cases.

380acp or 9mm trimmed to 380acp length ='s 150gr to 160gr bullets, depending on the weight of the core.

9mm cases ='s 170gr to 180gr bullets depending on the weight of the core.

Hornady sells a universal blank cartridge die set that does bullets from 22cal to 45cal. They are adjustable so the user can make large hp's (pictured above) or tight deep hp's like these 225gr 45acp hp's made from 40s&w brass, (these things are real thumpers).

Those 45acp's were designed to explode, they made a heck of a hole/devestating mess in the tightly bundled wet newspapers (24 hour soak). Had 7" to 7 1/2"s of penetration, a picture of a 50ft test target with the recovered slugs.

Recovered 357 slugs (pictured above) doing a meer 1100fps in more wet newspaper bundles.

265gr 44mags made from 40s&w cases, again doing a meer 1100fps fired into wet newspaper @ 25yds.

Nice, I spent some time in the "bullet room" and measured approx bullet lengths since jackets were already formed to get a rough idea of lengths and results. What I ended up doing is ordering some jackets to try in my 105 type dies, (Thanks rolltide!) and see which I like better in my 101 dies. The nice thing is if I don't like the jackets there will always be somebody in need of them. but I doubt that will be a issue.

I buy all my jackets from RCE. Just ordered 1800 the other day. If you order 1k or more, mixing and matching is OK, they take 10% off. Offer ends Jan 5th I think.

I can justify the cost of the jackets at $5-$6 per hundred. For me, to make a better bullet and not have to prep the pistol brass to be used as jackets is worth it. Just my 2 cents.
